Trish Hall will be the Doña Ana Arts Council’s (DAAC) featured artist for March in the gallery at their new Arts & Cultural Center. With their relocation to Mesilla last year, DAAC gained a perfect space to display local artists’ work, as well as hold events such as talks, musical performances, and art classes. Trish Hall’s show is entitled, “My Abstract World.” Hall says she has always had a creative side, but discovered painting abstract art in acrylic a little over a year ago and fell in love. She says, “Abstract painting has allowed me to create with no expectations, no limitations. I can start out with a vision in my mind about what I want a piece to look like and what techniques I want to explore, however the process always changes. The colors, the brush, the tools, even the canvas will take on a life of its own and direct me where it wants to go, what needs to be created, how it needs to be created, and what the end product will look like.” Her work will be on exhibit throughout the month of March, opening with an artist’s reception on Saturday, March 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. Make it a full “Art Mercado” evening with visits to neighboring art galleries that also will be open: The Rokoko Gallery and Carolyn Bunch Studio (directly across the street to the east of the DAAC gallery), then cap off the night with dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants. The Arts & Culture Center is in the Bulletin Plaza at1740 Call de Mercado, Suite D, next to Paisano’s Café.
